Default PowerPoint repair - Critical error 026

I am working with Kernel PowerPoint Repair version 4.05.01 (on Windows XP with Office 2003, recovering an Office 2003 ppt file)

Whenever I try to repair a PowerPoint document, when entering the "Writing objects data in slide" phase the application states:

"Critical Error 026 has occurred. Please restart the application"

I am left with the correct number of slides but all with large red X's on them.

Please help!

Default

I have found that disabling any add-ins present fixes this problem.

What is now shown in the lower window when "Writing objects data in slide" is not the final outcome, e.g. the upper window shows 9 slides, the lower 32, the upper has large red crosses on it, the lower the correct background image.

The final recovered file matches the upper window, not the lower.
